July-August
Participate in meetings and committee(s) to which you have been assigned by the Global Board President.
Check chapters on completion of Annual Financial Reports using the online reporting system.
Follow up to confirm reports were completed on time (due August 1).
Work with chapter officers to develop a chapter business plan.
Remind chapters to begin collecting annual membership fees. The Assessment amount will be based upon the number of chapter members in EIS as of October 15.
Attend the July Global Board meeting - assist in planning for the Global Leadership meeting when appropriate.
September
Attend the annual Global Leadership Meeting including sessions to which chapter officers are invited.
Develop agenda for your area meeting (plans, mark calendars).
Hold area meeting for chapters in your area.
Play host to chapters at opening events, introducing them to other Elfun Global Board members.
Be prepared for any presentations you will make.
September-October
Hold follow-up meeting(s) or phone calls after the Global Leadership Meeting and help chapters in your area.
Review activities and recommendations of Global Leadership Meeting and help chapters develop plans to follow through.
Review project plans with each chapter, complimenting them on scheduled activities and encouraging additional efforts where needed.
Remind chapters to complete reports for STG and volunteer projects using the online reporting system.
Follow up with each chapter on plans to collect membership fees and pay annual assessment fees to Elfun Headquarters.
Review chapter leadership plans, including handling of:
Golden Elm and Elfun of the Year Awards
Senior interests
Communications
Chapter records
Community projects
Inform chapters of current Area Elfun of the Year Award winners and verify plans for proper recognition of recipients at upcoming chapter meetings.
October-November
Follow up on chapter membership fees collection and assessment fee payments (due December 1).
Follow up on chapter planning efforts for next year's Elfun of the Year and Golden Elm Awards.
Attend November Global Board meeting.
December
If this is your second year as Director, begin contacting chapters to identify possible candidates for your successor.
Offer guidelines for identifying capable nominees.
Follow up with chapters that have not paid their annual assessment fees (due December 1).
Make plans to attend the Global Board Spring Meeting.
January-February
Maintain contact with your chapters.
Compliment leaders on project accomplishments.
Encourage them to continue and/or increase efforts, as appropriate.
If this is your second year as Director, identify your successor and submit their nomination to the Global Exec Committee.
Give thought to preparations for the coming Spring Meeting:
Prepare for full participation.
Give special attention to any presentations you may make.
March
Attend March Global Board meeting. Contact chapters to assure Spring New Member campaign is ready to implement.
Verify chapter plans for new member orientation.
Verify chapter plans for new member induction.
Offer to personally visit chapters for induction events.
Hold area meeting or conference call with your chapters.
April
Follow up with your chapters on Elfun of the Year and Golden Elm nomination plans.
Chapter winners (all four Elfun of the Year categories) to be reported to you by June 1.
Golden Elm applications to Elfun Headquarters by July 1.
Follow up with your chapters on new member induction plans.
Discuss with area chapters any need for reviewing and updating chapter by-laws.
May-June
Attend the annual Global Board Spring Meeting.
Contact your chapters regarding their plans to conduct nominations and election of new chapter officers for next Elfun year.
Review with your chapters their plans for submitting:
Annual Financial Report, using online reporting system, due August 1.
Golden Elm and Elfun of the Year nominations.
STG and volunteer project reports.
June
Collect from chapters their nominations for Elfun of the Year.
Review nominations and send area winners to Elfun Headquarters by July 1.
Golden Elm Award Applications go directly to Elfun Headquarters from Chapter by July 1.
Remind chapters to post new officer information in EIS.
