Elfun Society History - 50th Anniversary
Reg Jones, yet another former GE Chairman and Chief Executive Officer,
in a message to Elfun as the Society started its 50th Anniversary celebration year stated:
"Elfun bears the unique asset that distinguishes General Electric from other
companies. Elfun provides spiritual continuity. The same spirit that
animated our forebears... what is it? Some strange amalgam of enterprise and loyalty
and honor... that same spirit still gives us our marching power today. It is,
of course, now embodied in new people, new structures, new ventures. It takes us
into new realms of human endeavor. But it remains the one indispensable thread that
holds past and future together.
"To me, this is the first duty of the Elfun Society: to guard and teach
and sustain the matchless spirit of General Electric."
